Testimonials

We received the print on time last Friday and checked it in a cinema yesterday. This new print has no scratch! And as we asked, the colors are denser and we like that...we're glad to be able to screen the film in 35 mm

Print received! Let me tell you that this one exceeded my expectations, even better than what I thought with the format I wanted, came out perfectly. I also love the metal can was shipped with. I didn't have a time yet to do a complete projection, but what I see is what I want. I will come back later with my next project. I was planning another 41 minute, but I will change for longer time.

Can you print/process negative film?

No, our technology eliminates all stages involving expensive negative intermediates. No picture, sound or subtitle negatives are necessary and there is no need for colour matching. We print directly from a data source, straight onto positive film. Just supply us with your DCP, DPX, Pro-Res, or MPEG4. You can upload the content to our secure SFTP server or have it delivered to our premises. Please email cc@cpclondon.com for access details.

Can you print on 8mm, 16mm, 65mm/70mm?

No, we specialise in just 35mm film. For 8mm & 16mm services, we can refer you to our friends at on8mil.com for film scanning. We can then transfer your data to 35mm film.

What film stock do you print on?

We print on standard positive colour film stock, used by our major studio clients.

What are your turn-around times?

We can usually dispatch your prints up to 14 days after data has been received and checked successfully by our team, and payment received. Contact us if you require a faster turn-around.

Can you print Dolby surround-sound?

To enable us to strike a print with a Dolby Digital 5.1 track we need a Dolby printmaster. This is a file set in a proprietary Dolby format that is provided on a MOD disk or CF card, or delivered electronically. This file set is usually mastered in a Dolby certified studio and requires a Dolby consultant to be present during the re-recording session. A special device, which is called DMU (Dolby Mastering Unit), is used during this process.

Otherwise, if you can only provide 5.1 or 2.0 WAVs, we will print an analogue optical cyan track (Dolby SR). With this option, please note the following:

  • The optical soundtrack is an analogue medium, so the useable dynamic range for it is around 40 dB; reference dialogue level is –20 dbFS.
  • The maximum level that can be recorded without audible compression/distortion is at around –14…–12 dbFS (100% modulation).
  • The noise floor is at around –50 dbFS, but it depends on the alignment of the projector reader and its quality.
  • Dolby SR track usually carries two analogue channels (LtRt) encoded with Dolby SR. We convert 5.1 to LtRt and apply Dolby SR encoding in-house, but you can provide a pre-encoded track too.
Can you scan my film print?

We can scan prints back to digital to achieve the authentic 'film' look for your digital content. This is ideal for commercials, music videos, short films and more.
